The Nobile Contrada del Bruco occupies the northern part of the historic centre, in the Terzo di Camollia, its life centred on Via del Comune near Porta Ovile. Its emblem is a crowned caterpillar advancing on a rose branch. The district was historically that of the silk workers (setaioli, and the wool workers, lanieri), and its colours are green and yellow, edged with blue.

The Bruco carries the honorific Nobile. Its società is L'Alba.
Patron and feast
The contrada's titolare is the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Visitazione di Maria Santissima). Liturgical feast: 2 July. Festa Titolare: on a Sunday in early July. Annual programme: published each year. The contrada's church is the Oratorio del Santissimo Nome di Gesù, on Via del Comune.
Museum and what to see
The Museo della Contrada del Bruco, on Via del Comune, holds the contrada's Palio banners, costumes, flags and sacred objects. Visits are available by reservation or during announced special openings.
